Abstract: 

Many empirical studies have analyzed the relationship between economic and social behavior. Unemployment is considered as a phenomenon which is not desirable. The effect of unemployment on crime, may have heterogeneous impact on distinct regions (province or country). The technical approach in econometric literature indicates that, due to high integration of economic and social activities, the independency assumption-in this study, provinces-in the sample cannot be accepted, especially if the sample is small. In order to show the difference of crime effect on unemployment rate in various provinces, the random coefficients Panel Bayesian Conjugate Poisson model (Hierarchical) is used. To do this, the data of five provinces of Iran are used during the period of 2009-2014 to demonstrate such heterogeneous effects. Results show that for an increase in unemployment, there is a positive and varying effects on crime in the provinces for which the data were collected. In other words, in this study, for a %1 increase in unemployment, the greatest impact is in Tehran and the lowest is in Semnan province.

Abstract: 

A Hierarchical Bayes model for analysis of contingency tables is presented and, using it, inference about correlation parameter, logarithm of the odds ratio, is studied. For drawing random sample from the distribution of logarithm of the odds ratio, computational method of Gibbs sampling is used. For testing independence the use of the Hierarchical Bayes in calculating the Bayes factor is introduced and in an applied example is employed.

Abstract: 

In the survival analysis, when there is a cure fraction and the occurrence times of events are correlated, the cure frailty model is utilized. The main objective is to propose a method of analysis for two types of correlated frailty in the non-mixture cured model in order to separate the individual and shared heterogeneity between subjects. The cure models with correlated frailty and promotion time are considered. In both models, the likelihood function are based on piecewise exponential distribution for hazard function. To estimate the parameters, Hierarchical Bayesian modeling is employed. Due to non-closed forms of the posteriors, they are estimated by MCMC algorithms. The Cox correlated frailty model is used as a benchmark and models are compared by DIC Criterion. The results show the superiority of cure models with correlated frailty.

Abstract: 

Background: Adolescence is one of the most important periods in the course of human evolution and the prevalence of mental disorders among adolescence in different regions of Iran, especially in southern Iran.Objectives: This study was conducted to determine the prevalence of mental disorders among high school students in Bushehr province, south of Iran.Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 286 high school students were recruited by a multi-stage random sampling in Bushehr province in 2015. A general health questionnaire (GHQ-28) was used to assess mental disorders. The small area method, under the Hierarchical Bayesian approach, was used to determine the prevalence of mental disorders and data analysis.Results: From 286 questionnaires only 182 were completely filed and evaluated (the response rate was 70.5%). Of the students, 58.79% and 41.21% were male and female, respectively. Of all students, the prevalence of mental disorders in Bushehr, Dayyer, Deylam, Kangan, Dashtestan, Tangestan, Genaveh, and Dashty were 0.48, 0.42, 0.45, 0.52, 0.41, 0.47, 0.42, and 0.43, respectively.Conclusions: Based on this study, the prevalence of mental disorders among adolescents was increasing in Bushehr Province counties. The lack of a national policy in this way is a serious obstacle to mental health and wellbeing access.

Abstract: 

In this study, the E-Bayesian and Hierarchical Bayesian for stress-strength, when X and Y are two independent Rayleigh distributions with different parameters were estimated based on the LINEX loss function. These methods were compared with each other and with the Bayesian estimator using Monte Carlo simulation and two real data sets.

This study focuses on estimating the reliability of a multicomponent stress-strength model using two Bayesian approaches‎: ‎E-Bayesian and Hierarchical Bayesian‎. ‎This model follows Inverse Rayleigh distributions with distinct parameters‎. ‎Additionally‎, ‎the efficiency of the proposed methods is compared by employing Monte Carlo simulation and analyzing a data set.

Abstract: 

The ever-increasing number of logo (trademark) in official automation systems for information management, archiving and retrieval applications has created greater demand for an automatic detection and recognition logo. In this paper, a Hierarchical classification structure based on Bayesian classifier is proposed to logo detection and recognition. In this Hierarchical structure, using two measures false accept rate (FAR) and false reject rate (FRR), a novel and straightforward training scheme is presented to extract optimum parameters of the trained Bayesian classifier. In each level of the Hierarchical structure, a separable feature set of shape and texture features is used to train and test classifier based on complexity of the logo pattern. The logo candidate regions are extracted from document images by a wavelet-based segmentation algorithm, and then recognized in the proposed structure. The proposed structure is evaluated on a vast database consisting of the document and non-document images with Persian and international logos. The obtained results show efficiency of the proposed structure in the real and operational conditions.
